Two transformer buildings were constructed for National Grid, which will be connected to the site in Scotland. Slipform Engineering once again delivered the project successfully, completing the works as planned and well ahead of the scheduled programme.
The construction utilised pre-assembled units delivered to site for the first pole. Assembly required 9 working days, followed by 6 days of continuous 24-hour operations to complete the structure, including one modification implemented during construction.
Upon completion of the first pole, the full set of units was dismantled and transferred to the second pole, significantly reducing the overall construction time. As a result of improved efficiency and experience gained during the first build, wall construction for the second pole was completed one day faster.
Quality standards and Health & Safety performance on site were maintained at an exceptionally high level, receiving praise from both the Principal Contractor (BAM) and the client (EGL2).
In total, over 300 tonnes of reinforcement were installed and more than 2,200 m³ of concrete was poured throughout the project.
