Port of Tyne wood chip storage silos were constructed over an 11 week period from Commencement of Building silo 1 to completing removal of Silo 3 rig. Each silo consisted of 3600m3 of concrete and 900t of reinforcement. The last silo was constructed in 7 consecutive days and average of 2.6m per 12h shift.

For ease of construction we went with one 30m concrete boom on 20m stack. Due to the diameter we required 2 cranes to service the reinforcement requirements. Logistics and planning were key to this scheme due to the volumes of materials being used in 1 week.
